Additional Notes

  • Going a perfect 11-0-0 in its first 11 home games of the season, Team USA dealt Dubuque its first loss at the Mystique Ice Center of the season Dec. 13 by a 5-4 regulation score. Despite the loss, the Fighting Saints still maintain the Eastern Conference’s top team points mark (33).
  • As their nearly perfect home mark would suggest, the Fighting Saints are significantly better at home this season than on the road in several respects. On its home ice, Dubuque has converted on 26.1% of its power plays compared to 14.1% on the road, and its shot conversion rate of 13.9% in front of its home crowd is roughly double that of its 6.9% shot conversion rate on the road.
  • The Gamblers have been more efficient on their power plays away from the Resch Center (17.3 PP%) than at home (16.3 PP%), and are about league average with respect to killing penalties on the road (82.2% PK%).

Game Briefs

10/4/13 — Dubuque 4, Green Bay 0 — Outshot in each period by Dubuque, the Gamblers were able to stymie the Fighting Saints’ offense through the first period. The last two frames were much different, however, as Dubuque out-shot Green Bay 21 to 10 and converted on four of those shots — eventually giving the Fighting Saints the 4-0 victory.
