The Cedar Rapids Roughriders defeated the Green Bay Gamblers by a 4-3 regulation mark Friday night at The Stable in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. With the loss, the Gamblers dropped to 16-11-5 through their first 32 games of the 2013-2014 regular season.
Digging themselves a 2-0 hole 15 minutes into the opening period, Connor Hurley responded for the Gamblers late in the first frame, scoring his fourth goal since joining Green Bay in late December. By the end of the initial period, Cedar Rapids held true to a 2-1 lead.
Green Bay rode its momentum into the second frame, with Matt Weis evening the score 2-2 late in the period. Nick Schmaltz tacked on another, giving the Gamblers the 3-2 lead before the Roughrider offense came back to life late in the contest, scoring two goals in the game’s final six minutes to take the game by a 3-2 score.
Derek Lalonde and company look to end their brief two-game losing streak at the Resch Center tomorrow night when they host Sioux City at 7:05pm CT.
