The Gamblers were defeated by the Cedar Rapids Roughriders (23-14-1) by a 5-0 mark Saturday night at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. With the loss, Green Bay fell to 19-13-1 through 38 regular season games and its season points mark remained at 43 – enough for fourth place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference.
In start No. 32 of the season, Gamblers goaltender Jared Rutledge allowed five of 17 Roughrider shots past him before being replaced by Cam Hackett late in the affair, who successfully saved each of Cedar Rapids’ final four shots. It was just the fourth time this season Green Bay was held scoreless in a game.
Head coach Derek Lalonde and company will return home to the Resch Center next Friday, Feb. 7 against Chicago and play host to Cedar Rapids (Feb. 8) and Dubuque (Feb. 9) to finish out the weekend.
