The Green Bay Gamblers were defeated by the Youngstown Phantoms by a 7-3 score Friday night in front of 3,577 fans at the Resch Center. With the regulation loss, the Gamblers fell to 21-18-6 through their first 45 games of the regular season, and were leapfrogged by Chicago for fourth place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference.
Cam Hackett made his eleventh start of the season in the contest, but after giving up three first-period goals was pulled in favor of Jared Rutledge, who allowed two additional goals in the second frame and two more in the game’s final period.
Matt Weis tallied two goals in the game for Green Bay, reclaiming the team-lead with 17 scores on the season. It was the fourth time in 2013-2014 that the Ohio State University commit has notched at least two goals in a game this season. Sebastian Weberg also contributed with his tenth goal of the season in the affair.
Green Bay will return to the Resch Center tomorrow to face the Phantoms for the weekend finale at 7:05pm CT.
