ALEC DOPP – Though the Green Bay Gamblers held true to a 3-2 advantage over the Bloomington Thunder with seven minutes left in Friday night’s weekend opener at the Resch Center, they were unable to maintain it and eventually went on lose by a 4-3 regulation mark. Vince Pedrie’s penalty shot goal with just over a minute to go sealed the victory for Bloomington, and in turn sent the Gamblers’ record to 8-10-2.
Minnesota State recruit Jason Pawloski received the start in net for head coach Pat Mikesch and successfully saved 26 of 30 shots on goal against him. Joe Wegwerth, Brent Gates Jr. and Vili Saarijarvi each contributed with goals in the losing effort for Green Bay, while Brian Bowen chipped in with a pair of assists. Bowen, a University of Vermont commit, now has four points in his last two games.
With the loss behind them, the Gamblers will now turn their collective attention toward the weekend finale against Madison, which is scheduled to start Saturday evening at 7:05 p.m. CT.
