The Green Bay Gamblers were defeated by the Chicago Steel by a 1-0 overtime score at Saturday night’s sixteenth annual ‘Teddy Bear Toss’ night presented by Community First Credit Union, a losing effort that dropped Green Bay to 13-19-5 over its first 37 regular-season contest. With the overtime loss, Green Bay’s season points total increased to 31.
Jason Pawloski received his twenty first start of the season in net for the Gamblers, successfully saving 35 of 36 (.972%) shots against him. Ryan Tait’s second-period score triggered the influx of bears hitting the ice, but the goal was waived off due to a high-sticking call. Chicago then clinched the victory with an overtime score 30 seconds into the extra period.
With the overtime loss behind them, the Gamblers will now turn their collective attention toward next weekend’s two-game set with the Omaha Lancers. Puck is scheduled to drop for the Feb. 6 weekend opener at 7:05 p.m. CT at the Resch Center. Follow us on Twitter @GamblersHockey for updates heading into next weekend.
